The protein collagen is the main substance forming the connective tissue and is present in all multicultural organisms, collagen provides many organs and tissues with their structural and elastic properties, being a major constituent of connective tissue, collagen plays an important role in building strong muscle tissue, and collagen helps to maintain healthy skin and promotes growth of thick, shiny fur.

Chondroitin sulphate proteoglycans are matrix formers, being laid down with collagen, glycoprotein and often with lipids in assembly of the complex materials such as cartilage. Chondroitin sulphate plays an important role as protective agent of joints, internal wall of blood vessels, skin, bones, etc. the moisturizing and wetting properties of Chondroitin sulphate due to its high hygroscopicity help to maintain elasticity of coetaneous tissue, increase its mechanical resistance and maintain a perfect lubrication of joints.
